Health Benefits

I discovered this spice blend when I was seeing a Ayurveda doctor at UCSF. Among other things, the doctor recommended adding these 5 spices to my diet to help with IBS symptoms. According to Ayurveda practice, this spice mix helps cool the fire within, or what they call, Pitta, which is one of the three energies in the body. (Pitta is associated with symptoms like IBS, inflammation, etc.). But besides these health benefits, it has added a new fall flavor to chicken, ground turkey and veggies. Just when you think you’ve cooked chicken every way, here’s another one for ya!

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the traditional system of medicine originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. It’s based on the idea that you balance the body through diet, herbs, lifestyle, yoga and meditation. A more holistic and functional approach to modern medicine.

Take this quiz to find out which one of the three doshas, or energies, is strongest in you. When, what and how you eat is dependent on your dosha type, which can help boost your health.
